LSK PROFESSIONAL SERVICES LLC - Our Story

Simone and Kareen met early in their careers in higher education, a few years after they had completed college. Four years later, Lystra, Simone, and Kareen found themselves at the same institution of higher learning for almost 20 years. They each have served in various fields of education for over 20 years. Hence, collectively, they bring over 60 years in academia, including student advising and counseling, professional and academic support services, teaching, and curriculum development. They have gone on to mentor countless students as a natural progression of their roles in academia and have supported the aspirations of many beyond college graduation. Their collaborative works have included presentations at various conferences during different phases of their profession. 

Over the years, their professional relationships blossomed into a friendship. Before COVID-19, they began celebrating their birthdays, which are days apart, sharing laughter and memorable moments while bonding as sisters in higher education and life. Lystra, Simone, and Kareen always supported and encouraged each other in their career goals and aspirations. On March 4th, 2023, during a phone call with Simone, Kareen shared her desire to create a business that would provide editing services support to individuals, and Simone shared a similar desire. While still on the phone with Simone, Kareen texted Lystra to ‘give her a heads up.’ Kareen said they would be business partners and meet the next day to discuss it further. Since Lystra also wanted to establish a business, she responded, “sounds great!” During a three-way call the following morning, they began exploring the possibility of a partnership that would enable them to utilize their varied and similar experiences and skills in higher education in providing services to high school and college students, as well as adults in varying stages of their careers. Those two conversations instantaneously led to envisioning a joint venture and LLC called LSK Professional Services. As Black women of Caribbean descent, they are very proud to have come full circle in their personal and professional development. Lystra, Simone, and Kareen now draw from their professional expertise to effectively offer others resources, guidance, and support.
